People are wondering about the longevity of Twitter.

That’s because they haven’t considered the longevity of LinkedIn.

@atomicpoet ouch. Yeah, I'm always a little shocked when someone asks if they can connect with me on LinkedIn. Like, last time I even opened a LinkedIn page, it took me three years to stop receiving spam from them.

I mean, really, LinkedIn.

The biggest bullshit generator on the Internet.

The place where people brag about cooking food in a coffee pot in order to save the company money.

The place where AI writes posts—with full LinkedIn approval—and nobody notices.

That social network still has longevity. If LinkedIn still exists, so will Twitter in the next few months.

@atomicpoet to be fair, Microsoft owns LinkedIn and monetized it in a much more effective way than Elon is going to be able to with Twitter.

@atomicpoet
Unless it breaks. He's already playing Jenga with the servers.

@atomicpoet ...Had Linkin remove me because all they would is harass me with false and fraudulent info because trying get me to add on and pay for doing nothing, used 2x in many years...

@atomicpoet It used to be one of my favourite platforms before turning into Winner of the "Easiest Platform to Quiet Quit" Award a few years ago.

Thank God I don't have to rely on it for anything!

@atomicpoet I see very little equivalence. You’re correct if you look at just the social feed of Linkedin. But it has a very effective (and profitable) ad stack with multiple different products (ads, sales tools, HR tools, recruitment tools)

It is also the defacto professional “graph” with the majority of people are who they say they are. And owned by deep pocketed MS, although is profitable on a YoY basis. Twitter has none of this. Not saying I like Linkedin but not sure this is a great take.

@atomicpoet I agree with others, LinkedIn kinda has capitalism working for it whereas twitter just has narcissism working against it

@atomicpoet

I hate that I need to have a #LinkedIn profile in the professional world to be taken seriously is just absurd.

I need to set up some bragging profile with my public CV just to tickle some fancy of a corporate idiot. It is one of the worst platforms to ever come into existence, and I say that after #Tiktok made people eat tidepods.

@atomicpoet LinkedIn is the most effective recruitment and career development tool on the internet.

There are very few people active in the LinkedIn social graph beyond liking their employer's status and posting personal milestones, which is why it's so bloody weird but most people aren't on LinkedIn for the discourse.

@atomicpoet
Haha, so true. Is there a thing called "fasade wokeness"? I believe that describes a lot of the content I see on LinkedIn.

@atomicpoet #myspace survived a long time after it's deadblow. So did Geocities as Geosombie cities.

@atomicpoet does it though? Isn't it a Microsoft holding now? What's the probability Twitter goes into 2nd division pretty soon?

Side note, Lynda is playing 3rd division with Microsoft and LinkedIn as heads. Lynda was awesome. So was GitHub. Microsoft suck!
