Gregory's ServerSympathetic to Substackers getting cut off at the knees, but let's understand what's going on. You continue to post on Twitter, with the expectation that your posts are yours. They are not. You give him your work for free. It's now Elon's to corrupt, manipulate and monetize. Maybe next he decides to charge you to link to your content. He might. Your only option is to continue to contribute to his platform and accept whatever indignations he doles out or leave.

Musk will try to monetize every single link in the chain, including tweets. It did take me a while to understand how directly open source platforms benefit me... In every regard. As bird site users become increasingly disgusted, they will be taking a closer look at Mastodon and how people are using in with their content. I strongly believe there is substantial built-in appeal, once people have a bit more exposure. @mastodonmigration One other thing - Mastodon is growing in the best way possible - third party endorsement and word of mouth. While advertising is a powerful tool, the fact that there is no Mastodon advertising just adds to the power of this sort of organic growth arc.
