Odds are that they're lying about that code ever being in the algorithm. They probably put that in there so that ELoon could take credit for having it removed.

I've passed off far too many PRs to people whose "reviews"' were "uh huh, looks good" ...because they had no idea what they were looking at but didn't want to "look dumb" by asking for explanations.
