@simon_brooke pretty much, you can't have any actual democracy when money plays such a huge role in elections. And I'd argue that this further extends to things like media ownership as well.

I feel that, in a democracy, all media organisations (including social media) MUST be consumer-owned co-operatives. That allows a broad range of views and prevents state control without allowing kleptocrat control.
