Inspecting the boat, we found this beautifully corroded hose-clamp, you can hardly tell what it is anymore. We're taking the whole thing out and putting a new thru-hull.

Trying out plastic(Marelon) thru-hulls for the first time, we've also upsize the drain so it'll stop clogging up whenever a bit of mud falls down the drain. It's the anchor locker drain. -- Sent from Pino's bowels @neauoire Forespar (Marelon) or TruDesign are great and more importantly, UV stable - steer clear of the cheap unbranded tat in chandleries :) TruDesign or Groco are the only brands of sea cock / through hull I'll allow anywhere near my boat. Just an FYI - when double-clamping a hose with jubilee clamps, you want to have the clamps on opposite sides like in the original rusty pic - the area under the body of the clamp is where you may get leakage so offsetting them cures this 👍 @neauoire There's a Project Farm video about hose clamps on YouTube, but the conclusion is "Breeze" brand hose clamps are the best. The 6600 series is 100% 316 stainless. |
