You're recreating VK groups at this point, aren't you? :)
Specifically, the now-gone "groups" tab in the newsfeed where it would show new photos added to albums and new topics. But, interestingly, not new posts. Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot of a decent quality, but this is what it was like, roughly:
