@susankayequinn it's funny, my cat also figured this out. He wasn't exactly a genius, but he somehow put together a causal link of ' if I paw at this area ( where the spike bar was located), daddy will pay attention to me', requiring me to rig up a bit of duct tape and plastic over the power switch once he had done it a few times.
People thought I was making it up.
@Oggie @susankayequinn My first cat learned to attack the rug in the living room if my mother was around or the hi-fi speakers if my dad was (when she wanted feeding or door-opening).
If they were out she didn't bother: She knew my sister and I didn't care about those - she'd just come and stare at one of us till we came and dealt with whatever she wanted.
