 @yogthos Nice. On a side note... I really wish the geteral population could understand nuance. That you can dislike a foreign government without invoking racism against their people. But I might be biased. I married into a chinese family and am learning Mandarin :P 6 comments
@yogthos Nice! I'm not conversational, but I can follow 1/5 of what my mother-in-law says :P  @psiie I practice with my wife, and can follow basic stuff so far, but yeah not quite conversational yet either. Hopefully by next year. I find tones are still tricky for me, and just memorizing all the words is a challenge. A lot of the words either sound similar or same, and you have to remember the meaning within a context. That's a new challenge from other languages I've learned. :) |

@psiie the worst part is that pretty much all the dislike is based on the propaganda diet people consume. Most people in the west don't know the first thing about China from what I've seen and just regurgitate the tropes they hear in western media.
I've been learning Mandarin here as well, it's not easy but slowly getting the hang of it. :)
