@rob You just have to hit the translate option (in the gear button of a post) and it should use it. Setting languages for posts will come when we redesign the compose view. @rob Just go to the federated timeline and look for posts in other languages. @ivory @rob I had already been trying that, but could not find such a post so far. Ironically a reblog of @MonaApp today provided the test case… It works! What defines the target language? On the web (instance) it is English (the configured interface language?), but in Ivory (App) it’s my native language (language set on iPhone?). @ivory Experimented a bit: Ivory seems to (indeed) translate to the preferred language in the iOS Settings (which totally makes sense). |
@rob Mastodon has the capability to enable server-side translations. Admin would have to configure it: https://write.as/sweetmeat/how-to-activate-the-mastodon-v4-deepl-api-text-translation-service
