When Dev & I first made Oquonie, we based a lot of assets on things we had around us when living in Tokyo.

We used to grow avocado plants from the pits and kept them in little umeshu glasses (pictured on the right).
We also would sprout potatoes and grow plants with them for fun (little plant up front).

In Japan a lot of houses keep PET bottles full of water in specific spots on their property (nekoyoke 猫よけ, to scare away cats) so this is what I drew here too :>.

some pixel art assets featuring nekoyoke, a potato plant and some avocado pits in glasses with a long leafy stem sticking out from their tops.

@rek oh that’s neat to learn the backstory. 🌱

@bouncepaw in the beginning we'd buy it, but then we started making our own while living there :>, the waiting was always so worth it.

@rek I loved Oquonie back in the day, especially the artstyle! It's great to hear more about the origins of the game :)
