@seanhealy lol i thought i might be behind. This all reminds me of old times when there were a million Twitter clients all better than the official one and they killed most of them off for ad revenue

@megmac yea! There is so much about Mastodon that reminds me of the golden age of Twitter. I’m really loving it.

The slow demise of third party Twitter apps was part of their product shifting in a way that really started my loosing enjoyment from their service. It felt less and less like a social tool I wanted to use and more like an algorithmically generated ad machine. Which I guess was exactly what it became.

@seanhealy i agree, though i think I've grown too cynical about "the social internet" in general to get the full hit of 2009 nostalgia lol.
