Here's a very early implementation of #Firefox Sync running in Thunderbird Daily!

The bones are there and the foundation is solid.

Though it may be called something else by the time we launch it in Thunderbird 115 (such as Thunderbird Sync or #Mozilla Sync), it's a feature we're THRILLED about putting in your hands.

Seriously though, we've been working hard on taking ownership of Flatpak packaging and distribution, and the plan is to also offer Beta and Daily Flatpak channels.

Firefox Sync is awesome and I use it all the time. It'd be awesome if #Mozilla would make it easier to have a self-hosted option for this too. I know it *can* be done (I played with it a bit) but it was very hard to get going and I eventually had to give up.

When I tried to do it, it was a pretty complicated process. I was hoping it'd be more like a snap package experience.

From memory there is an app in #Nextcloud (and/or maybe #Yunohost) that makes a #FirefoxSync sever significantly easier to set up.

@tilvids @thunderbird Couldn't agree more - gave serious consideration to self-hosting that, but it's just not worth it for 1-2 accounts from where I sit, given the complexity.

Agreed, though I just looked (at the suggestion of @Blort ) and it looks like there IS a Yunohost option for Firefox Sync so...that's something to think about. Still, would be nice if Mozilla could create an easier install/setup workflow.
