Discovery is important, especially for people that recently join pixelfed servers.

We're working to integrate our People Directory (fediverse.info/explore/people) into our webUI and mobile apps!

This will make it easy to discover people to follow regardless of how new your server is.

Admins will be able to opt-in, curate listings shown to their users, and allow their local users to submit/manage their own listing! #discovery #pixelfed

@pixelfed One issue with the Pixelfed discovery: If i look at a remote profile i don't see any information of that profile... Is this a bug, or is my instance not working correct? #Fediverse #Pixelfed #pixeldev

@pixelfed That's great news! An even bigger opportunity might be enabling people to repost/boost pictures of others, since this is how many of us usually stumble upon interesting content that we might like to follow up. I feel this is like one of the bigger last bricks from really getting "social" here.

As there are already buttons for that kind of functionality within the web UI, this might be something you are also thinking about, but currently, they don't seem to work.

@pixelfed it's 2023 now, shouldn't the website and hashtag get updated to reflect that?

> Add #fedi22 to your bio, it doesn't matter where.

> The hashtag #fedi22 stands for Fediverse info person, 2022. Its a unique and short hashtag that we can use to verify enrollment in our directory.

@pixelfed My main way to discover people is by searching for/following hashtags. I’d love to see hashtags that I follow being integrated directly into my home stream (like on Mastodon) instead of being separate in „Discover“.

@pixelfed I added my pixelfed account into a mastodon app (metatext), and don't see a "follow" button when I view somebody's account (like if they commented on my post and I want to see if they're worthy of a follow). Is that a Metatext issue, or something funky with Pixelfed's configuration?
