@ct_bergstrom I have a great number of crows that reside here. Fascinating birds. Been trying to find a way to be sure they are crows and not Ravens. The square tail verses the pointed tail sounds great until you have binoculars bumping into windows trying to catch a good angle to tell the difference. Smart birds whatever the distinction.

@SSSGregory @ct_bergstrom
We have both species here but mainly ravens.
I find the best distinguishing points, besides size, to be:
1. Ravens soar, crows rarely do. Crows fly like they’re rowing a boat, steady flapping.
2. Crows say “caw” quite distinctly; ravens say “croak.”
3. Ravens have much heavier bills and almost a ruff at their throat.

@fatamorgana @ct_bergstrom sounds like I am blessed with several large families of Ravens. How awesome. These guys ride the wind like hawks and squabble with each other like children. I wish I had a good enough lens to catch the tail spread for sure. A spring project for sure. Thanks.
