@gargron well then that might be a Suggestion because certainly no one likes pressing 'next' five times. but then if they got to that point i'm not sure five clicks are the decisive factor @CobaltVelvet Prior version of the tutorial was implemented as a modal screen with a skip button. What this led to was a bunch of people insta-skipping the tutorial and then having questions that would've been answered in the tutorial. Which is why I omitted it on the redesign. @Gargron @CobaltVelvet what about keeping skip button but button in options to “see tutorial again” Blueberry, a skip button but then an unobtrusive alert bar kind of thing somewhere on the page to get back to the tutorial, that is shown for a new account for its first day for example. Just thinking of this in relation to the onboarding flow in the iOS app... The value of explaining what the reply button does is questionable at best @Gargron That depends on the tutorial screen. If it's one of those that tell you the most basic things of a program, stuff anyone would know, then it's just wasting time. But if it''s showing more advanced features, then it'll be usefull to more people so more people will stick around. @ILuvMsMarvel I'm not asking an abstract question, I'm talking about the one we specifically have lol @Gargron I find it useful that if I want a specific answer I ask a specific question. You added the specifics afterwards. So yeah, non specific question, non specific answer. @ILuvMsMarvel I'm the developer of Mastodon. I posted, on the account where I talk about Mastodon development, what if "the" tutorial screen was this or that. I think I was pretty specific. @Gargron Don't show unsolicited tutorials or tips. I usually know how to use an app just by looking at it. Those pop-ups get in my way and slow me down. |
@gargron is there a skip button? i can't remember
