I've always been interested in what people would do if they didn't have to worry about an income. I've asked dozens of people, and everyone had something interesting (at least to themselves) and productive that they wanted to do. I think only one person ever said she wanted to do nothing.

@willallen @rbreich Actually, she was a little madam and I was delighted when she went to work for a different company. But I completely agree with the rest of your post. It's in our genes. Humans evolved because we are inherently creative and we want to express that creativity, even if it's just by going to one's local on a Friday night, tossing back a few, and telling wild stories. @shadowbelle @rbreich meh. @shadowbelle @rbreich yep. And I'll bet you a dollar that person was either exhausted from overwork, depressed and in need of therapy, or both.
Capitalism is a form of feudalism, and it's shocking how many people don't realize that. It's "work for the owner" instead of "pursue the life that makes you happy."
Almost everybody's "happy life" involves putting something new and productive into the world.
