All to often they claim they need it when they really just want it.
Post the bills or you don't get a donation from me. This should be standard, but it's not because then begging scams wouldn't work.

@yoshimitsu it's important to also value peoples time and future sustainability. Most instances are reporting their bills but if your not paying at least $5 USD a month you are probably a loss for the instance

Want to prove me wrong? Stop saying "you don't know the costs of hosting" and just provide evidence of those costs.

The instance I'm on reporting their costs here https://www.patreon.com/posts/cloud-island-75379795 and per user this is significantly more than $5usd (though has different design goals than other instances)

Are you paying anything for your current account - because if not I know who's scamming who here

I've done my part. Either provide evidence of costs or shut up about them.
Everyone else will have to decide for themselves if they should donate to people who lie about their expenses.
