@alx yep, the UK has actually been in a state of deforestation for about 20 years and we only have about 13% woodland coverage vs the European average of about 30%. Add in the fact that about half of our ancient woods are currently plantations in desperate need of restoration (a decades-long project to protect the ancient woodland status - you can't just bulldozer it and start again), and we have a problem.
