@andrewleroy @adamdavidson @leo Leo's bigger point was about the infrastructure of verification. That's just part of it. Journa.host is also creating a community -- as twit.social does -- for journalists.

@jeffjarvis @adamdavidson @leo I don't see any problem with individual instances creating a verification scheme for their users since that's their prerogative, regardless of whether users of another instance choose to assign any value whatsoever to that designation. I still don't understand the controversy. 😵💫

@jadelson @jeffjarvis @adamdavidson Funny you should ask, Jeff. We're working on it (I'm a volunteer moderator). We're in the process of signing up with a fiscal agent to handle donations. We're hoping that will be up and running ASAP. We'll make an announcement when it's ready.

@mirakamdar @adamdavidson The start? Like three days ago? This is pretty damned speedy for a university. In those three days, we have had to draw up contractual documents, which we still need approved by our foundation. Adam had to incorporate an entity to accept the funds and find a fiscal sponsor, meanwhile running the server with volunteers. I'm not sure what you expect? This is the beginning.

@jeffjarvis Woah there. A strong reaction to a simple question. People have been signing up for journa.host for more than three days. As I wrote, I think it's great. I know a whole lot of journalists who've migrated there. (Was "accepted" myself but found it too difficult to move from where I'd already signed up.) From what you write, it sounds like the support is more recent than the journa.host's initial creation. Which is fine. As for: "I'm not sure what you expect?" I have no expectations.
