This is it. We've had discussions on what our larger purpose is without really landing on anything, but I think you've found it. We should be like @mattcropp's work but for Mastodon instances - helping as many as possible convert to a cooperative structure through outreach, advocacy, and support.

@ntnsndr @mattcropp thinking about the recent announcement of .technology shutting down due to the sole admin wanting out - this is much like the retiring business owners that Matt works with.

That admin sid they wouldn't turn it over to another admin due to concenrs about the data privacy, but that wouldn't be an issue with turning it over to the users themselves as a coop
