I suspect that if Mastodon grew to Twitter's size, a lot of the administration would be avoided through simple separation.

For example, removing gab.com from the majority of servers stopped an amount of moderation work before it happened. Taking a quick look at what's on gab.com's page, it looks like the fedi's successfully constructed a troll-prison (or perhaps 'zoo', since they're a spectacle).
