The soviets didn't do that. Washington did that, and gave Uncle Joe the scarps from the table. Had him holding out his hand for the promised gold for years to come. Russians were stiffed.

@spiritsplice That's not the history I learned from the natives whose grandparents lived through it. Soviet life was very unpleasant but Poles became stronger and finally shook them off. That's how oppressive the Soviets were. @adamosophy Thats very poland centric. there were bigger things at stake and now the whole world is gay. @spiritsplice By the way, it was the "Soviets" who rebuilt Warsaw to its original post-WWI beauty, working meticulously to bring back as much of Polish culture and identity as possible. The Russian economy invested in rebuilding Poland as a functioning industrial and agricultural European powerhouse of energy and food production. Then, when the yankees came back as Bill Clinton, Poland and the others were plundered from the Soviet economy as it came tumbling down, thanks to friendly Gorbachev. @spiritsplice Germany was defeated by Wall Street when they dumped them like a bad piece of family business.
