@Sheril Strange.. I just moved my #Mastodon handle to the location field and restored my old "name". And it let me w/o an issue. Were you using the phone app, a phone browser, or a laptop browser? (I just used the last on that list)

I wonder if they're singling out accounts using the @___@ name format. You might get around it by using (a)YourName(a)Instance and see if it lets your name change through. Just a thought

@Sheril From what I've heard, verification went as well as all its critics expected and said it would, and so that's probably Twitter's way of dealing with the inevitable and very much pointed-out problems. But yeah if your Mastodon name is now your Twitter name that just means more people over here, so win.
