On lor.sh we're using patches for tweaks like post length increase, color scheme change or early editing enabled. Because Mastodon isn't about customisation. So most likely it'll be easier to patch language files than waiting for the feature.

P.S. I didn't really check if the option is present because I'm on the phone right now, but I'm not too optimistic about finding it.

@skobkin I used a CSS trick in the custom CSS field, but it’ll break when the DOM changes in the next release, I’m sure.

Yeah, 4.0 has A LOT of front-end changes, so it'll most likely break.
There's also a lot of front-end bugs in the new version. So it'll be fun. But you still can update the CSS after the update, so the main problem is NOT TO FORGET to do that 🙂
So if you don't need a lot of changes, CSS way could be better indeed. Unfortunately it's not enough for our server though.
