@rysiek Some counterarguments. Obligation to hide something fundamental like a political view behind a CW, is not good for #freespeech.

There is always a risk of some kind of totalitarianism when people want to create a ideal (virtual) world.

#Privacy is actually a concern at #Mastodon. Amateurs running servers can be a risk. Is data like e-mail stored encrypted? DM's are readable for admins.

@avlap it's not censorship to let people opt into a potentially bothersome post. It's being sensitive to other people's boundaries.

@rysiek On the other hand, Mastodon doesn't track you with cookies and such AFAIK, which is a plus when it comes to #privacy of course.

There is no obligation, it's an ask, a request, a norm.

And how is putting a CW on your post limiting your speech? You still get *speak*, after all, you just let people choose to not engage if they don't want to.

Anyway, freeze-peach discourse in CW context is kinda sus anyway.

Self-proclaimed "free speech absolutist" over at :birdsite: is why suddenly a lot of people joined. 🤷‍♀️
