@allenstenhaus @rysiek @mycorrhiza wait until you learn about the autism / adhd overlap. Got diagnosed autistic at 19, it took me until nearly 30 to realize I’m displaying adhd traits too. Would never have figured that out without help from the neurodivergent crowd online

The fun part of that overlap is that they changed the terms like a decade ago and it caused confusion for everyone who was diagnosed before then. When I was growing up I had ADD, NOT ADHD as they were -so- insistent that they were different things. It took me until last year to be like "why am I not seeing anyone talk about ADD anymore" and learn that it was now just considered a variant of ADHD.
I'm very, very glad more people are getting diagnosed especially since they may not have had access to those resources when they were younger. It's also funny how we, as neurodivergent people, can oftentimes automatically just KNOW someone we meet is neurodivergent. At least definitely in the case of autistic people. I think that sense is stronger in people who were diagnosed young, but it also leads to awkward moments sometimes when you have friends who come to you and tell you they just got diagnosed as autistic and you go "Yeah I know. oh, you didn't realize that? I realized that when I met you." It's like spidey sense for NDs.
