Without counting the poor Musk for sure. @Gargron The early adopters over the past 5-6 years paved the way for a relatively user friendly transition, so thanks to many of you. There will be a lot of confusion and frustration in the growing population as FOTM instances come and go, but this stress test is a welcome sight for mainstream fediverse! @Gargron The primary Mastodon iOS app is, as of this toot, 5th most popular for social networking in the US. That puts it above FB Messenger, Telegram, and Discord, and trailing Gas, BeReal, WhatsApp, and FB proper. The only publicly visible metric is the # of ratings (1.2k for Mastodon, 105k-xxM for the rest). A search for Mastodon, of course, brings up a plethora of alternatives clients also ready to go. @Gargron To continue this thought, that's huge! Despite a low number of App Store reviews, which are not even solicited to my knowledge, Mastodon is crushing well-established platforms in a subtle but important scoreboard. Reviews are up to 1.4k this morning and Mastodon is now 4th most popular. @Gargron now if only the local and federated timeline at mastodon.online can be restored..

Any issues when it comes to scaling right now or any foreseeable issues? And any way we can help? Iโm donating through Patreon and encourage everyone else to, too, but curious if there are other things to look out for. @Gargron I read an article about you and what yโall do in this space. I switched from the Twitter right away. Thank YOU! Now is the time when the focus should shift from scaling up and welcoming new users to committing to keeping them on here, trying to avoid the #Fediverse becoming a ghost universe populated by stale accounts.

He's doing a great job over at Twitter. @Gargron I tried a private Mattermost, it failed because family and friends have "Whatsapp". Signal does the trick now but to Twitter there is only one sane alternative. And here we are :) @Gargron good stats !
