I got a notification that a unit test failed today that was passing yesterday. No code has changed over the weekend. Check the logs: lol it's a timezone related test and it failed today because we had a time change in the US

@darius I’m never more frustrated with time zones as I am when my team’s time zones all change at 3 different times on 3 different continents.

@darius Yuuuuup. I noticed my "is this user a minor?" tests failing earlier this week. (DST ended on Halloween in 2004).

@darius I tell students, there are some problem domains in this field where you have only two choices: you either dedicate your life to this problem, or you exclusively use tools created by people who have dedicated their lives to this problem. Every other approach is a short road to madness.

@mhoye I'm using those tools and still get a bit of madness

@darius once you’ve learned that “gmt +14:30” is real it’s sort of inescapable.

@mhoye my favorite are the 15 and 45 minute offsets

@darius we had one like that at my previous workplace, which we only discovered after hiring an engineer in barcelona where the time change occurs a week before the u.s.

@darius I didn't finish the first sentence an knew it had to be TZ issues! Can't wait for tomorrow at work now.

@darius not having to deal with daylight savings was the one (1) good thing about living in Arizona
