Jason: A Musician

A few months ago I stopped crossposting from Twitter to Mastodon.

Why?

I discovered (as many of you have) that it's a completely different vibe here. Different people. Different habits. Different interests.

Zero algorithms.

And people here are more interested in deeper conversations.

Combined with the extra characters and (gasp!) actual editing capabilities, I'm making an effort to post unique content here that isn't just copied from Twitter.

LET'S GO!

@killyourfm Do we have follow fridays here? how do you get followers? are any sacrifices needed? chicken? humans?
:)

@rjasmin Welcome! The best place for serious questions is #AskFediverse.

The only sacrifices required are voodoo dolls in the shape of a certain birdsite logo.

@killyourfm Can I just stare at the nearest Tesla until it inevitably falls apart on its own?

@rjasmin @killyourfm people will follow you if you're interesting enough to be followed :-)
Also, follows tend to be mutual here, if you follow someone, it's likely they'll follow back! BUT, make sure you have a profile pic and a bio, else people will think you're a bot and tend not to interact or follow you.

@killyourfm This is most excellent news. Do you have any follow recommendations???

Jason: A Musician

@RobLoach Sorry, not off the top of my head (brain is a bit fried today). But I will absolutely boost quality posts.

I need to follow more people myself, so thanks for the reminder!

@killyourfm I can confirm, the experience here is better!

@killyourfm That's an interesting viewpoint. I'm still new to the fediverse so perhaps I'm still becoming acclimated to it.

I can say that I have noticed the different vibe here. It's a different atmosphere than Twitter.

@killyourfm Two rules here, post good stuff and be nice and you will grow. We are all equals and there is no way to jump to the head of the line by gaming the algorithm

@killyourfm I really appreciate this move of yours. I usually stop following people who just cross-post.
Even though a fair share of my posts are the same both on Mastodon and Twitter, I've never done cross-posting. IMO the fact that you're willing to post the message manually is a sign that you're also ready to have interactions with your followers which is the essence for social media.

@killyourfm I think the pro move is to post here exclusively and cross-post to Twitter. ;)
