Gregory's Server@Gargron Sorry - I am confused on this post. It seems there is a gap between live viewing a post and scrolling. From an end user perspective, if I scroll, it may indicate that the previously playing media isn't relevant to me any more. If I want to watch it, I won't scroll until it is finished. If that is what is being described, I don't think it is an issue that needs to be resolved (scrolling vs. playing media).
@philvuchetich If there's a song in my home timeline I may want to listen to the song while I continue scrolling, rather than having to stay in one place until it's finished. Same with some videos. Personally I rarely let a video play out while I am scrolling away unless I am interested in continuing to watch it. I either don't play it in the first place or stop it.
