@Gargron I think setting up the right expectation would largely be a matter of: where does the player move to on the screen when it pops out? if it stays "within" the single column, like say as with position: sticky, then changing the column would naturally clear out the player. but if it breaks "out" of the column, then it'd be more intuitive for the player to remain live when the column changes
