I’m curious, how many times do I need to listen to an album on Spotify for the artist to receive as much money as if I’d have bought the CD

@Gargron napster or tidal will be faster than Spotify https://soundcharts.com/blog/music-streaming-rates-payouts @Gargron https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/12/25/streaming-music-services-pay-2019/ So at .99 a song, that'd be 198 times at best. @Gargron The problem here lies in the copyright laws, which are different in each country...Spotify exploits the general flaws in the vague international rules, because there are no physical 'copies' involved in streaming. So it offers a payment per-play, just like the radio stations used to (and still do). Copyright covers copies, not plays, which are governed by individual country agreements with broadcasters, and Spotify is not classed as a broadcaster under most of the agreements... |
@Gargron Probably more times than humanly possible
