@hazelnot @pixelfed stories are already available on Pixelfed web as a beta feature. I think the "TikTok" part was about reels and randomness, not chronological, showing content from accounts you are not following etc.

Stories are just "posts that expire". I understand that it feeds the "urge to keep accessing the app so you don't lose content that will not be available tomorrow", but at least they are in a separate part, not "inside" the feed, so you can choose to not use/consume them at all.

I still think the default should be that they expire in 3 days or more.

I think most ppl wont care as long as they disappear eventually.

@hazelnot @pixelfed I’m pretty sure PixelFed is a planned alternative to instagram? They just don’t want to include Instagram Reels/TikTok

Stories came from Snapchat originally, Instagram just took them
