i know it’s not necessarily an option for everyone, but i just want to emphasize that this is *very real* allyship.

normalizing proactively offering pronouns provides cover to trans people who want to be gendered in a certain way but don’t want to have to out themselves or other themselves.

normalizing pronouns outside of the binary provides cover to nonbinary people who don’t want their pronouns to automatically out them, or otherwise don’t want their pronouns to constantly be A Thing.

Sordid Amok!

@jepyang My pronouns are any/all. I will always respect other people's pronouns, but I see them as linguistic conveniences that have no bearing on who I am. I hope to live long enough to see the end of gendered pronouns - in English, at least.

@SordidAmok nice! i used to use any pronouns myself, and still allow trusted people that privilege. but i also found that a lot of people used it as an excuse to avoid adjusting their behavior at all. it felt unproductive in terms of changing norms, and at times personally disrespectful.

@jepyang Thanks! I've listed my pronouns in my profiles for years but hadn't considered adding "they" - I'll have to consider that!

@jepyang done, he/him/they.

Quite painless it turns out.
