@skinnylatte
Wow, you mean literally putting a barrier between the product and the consumer decreases sales?! Who knew?
Walmart, for example, not only puts health and beauty/cosmetic items behind locked doors, they put the entire department within a walled-off area. To purchase a bottle of lotion you have to:
* Find an employee to request unlocking the shelf
* Wait for the employee to unlock the shelf
* Wait in line to pay for the item separately from all the other items in your cart before you may leave the area
* Stand in another line at the main store checkout area to purchase any other items you have selected
Walmart CEO (who probably never does their own shopping):
Health and beauty/cosmetics sales are down! Hire some consultants to do a study to find out why! Also, schedule me for that mainstream media news interview regarding the rise in retail theft so I can brag about our corporate anti-theft tactics.
