@signalapp I used to recommend Signal to pretty much everyone and a few actually installed it. However since dropping the SMS feature pretty much all of them have dropped it, including IT professionals.

The value proposition for the majority of users is just not there and I can no longer recommend it. Since most mobile devices periodically recommend uninstalling unused applications, most people uninstall Signal. For sentimental reasons, I changed the settings to not delete it.

@mcrocker Technically, those who installed the app only to use it for SMS weren’t actually using Signal, were they?

@ilyess @signalapp true, but the value proposition was that, occasionally a correspondent _would_ have it and they'd get end-to-end encryption without doing anything special.

As soon as I tell someone they have to use two messaging apps and keep track of who's on which, their eyes glaze over.

One model has a snowball growth effect. The other has diminishing returns.

I have a tough time convincing IT professionals, and it hurts my credibility with everyone else, so I can't recommend it now.
