@jgilbert this may not be a popular response but your best option is to use a hosted service like https://masto.host/ . It costs money, but you have better control over your presence. Another option is using a free account from https://WordPress.com/ and turning on the ActivityPub plugin.

 Self-hosting via masto.host will definitely remove all the "can't be seen because of fediblocks" problem but will introduce so many "___ because of poor federation" problems. I migrated to self hosted from a server I was hearing other people talk about fediblocking and I probably would have been better at sfba.social if I had know about it. Better connections to things in my life. Jon: that's where I would suggest Heather go. Your post is top of the trending on that site now.  @elithebearded yeah, you know I *like* the idea of sfba.social (hi y'all! 👋), but their /about page doesn't list the other servers they've moderated out, so it's kind of hard to tell who they're ignoring in advance of joining. 🤷♀️ They're on the list, but probably not a lock because of that lack of transparency. |
