@iska Oh, maybe it does that now, I don't know. I've just set that var in my .profile and forgot about it.
You can make sure it does by opening "about:support" the Graphics section should show whether it uses wayland or not.
Maybe there is an url like that for chromium-based browsers? 🤷🏿‍♀️
