Do you have a big monitor and often lose your mouse pointer on the screen?

Are you in denial about being old enough to turn on mouse trails?

Well, I have the solution for you!

A desk kitten!

Desk kittens can locate your lost mouse pointer in approximately 3 nanoseconds and feature a clear and reliable indicator that ensures you know EXACTLY where your mouse pointer is.

Get your desk kitten today!

Act now and we’ll throw in the relaxing “purr” mode upgrade, guaranteed to relieve stress while responding to people who are wrong on the internet.

@jerry I have two desk kittens that no longer perform this function, but no, I’m not sending them back.

@jerry Your cat btw looks really really like one of my cats called Sterra.

My cat, her name is Sterra.

This is a striped tabby that's hard to distinguish specifically because it's an average cat in all aspects. It's of a mixed breed which represents the most populous cat group in the world.

@cek don't say that out loud to my cat, she might get offended 😅

@codecolorist Lightroom is in one window and photoshop in the other window. I also have Capture One, but I use that only when taking pics

@jerry Slightly different than mac that I didn't recognize them. Thanks!

@jerry Excellent idea. Now all I need is a working plan on how to bring it to my office without anyone noticing.

Dr Neenah Estrella-Luna

@jerry What kind of warranty or protection plan are you offering? 😺

Martin

@starluna @jerry
Thats very important.
My desktop kitten insists on sleeping on the keyboard and when I try to get my fingers on keys I get a claw-out tab.
I'm running out on tape.

Is this a Linux problem, maybe?

@jerry instructions unclear, kitten is now GIAC certified practitioner...

@jerry I no longer remember if it's part of PowerToys or Windows, but tapping Ctrl to make the pointer 'splash' is very handy.

@fencepost @jerry I think it's a built in accessibility option in Windows and Linux both these days.

But turning it on is kind of an admission similar to turning on mouse trails I imagine?

Alan Miller :verified_paw:

@nazokiyoubinbou @jerry bah, in my case it's an admission that my monitor layout is both not optimized and too large. Also if I've left the mouse over a text window it may be much less obvious.

Andrew Bartlett

@jerry I certainly remember a a derivative of this on my Windows PC before I moved to Linux in around 2000.

@jerry Back when I had a CRT, my previous cat would lay on it and sometimes chase the pointer.

Nazo

@jerry So the classic Windows Neko application finally got an even more modern upgrade than Neko98. I have to admit, the graphics on that Neko are amazingly realistic!

@jerry Or enable Ctrl key mouse finder, which when pressed draws a bulls-eye like animation of where the cursor currently sits.

@jerry I had one. The maintenance cost is insane so it's not a thing for everyone.

@jerry Do I need firmware update to get this functionality ?

The monitor has a couple of windows open - one has photograph of a bright pink orchid in it.  The other has a photograph if a white orchid.

@jerry If someone does not have a kitten to find a mouse pointer, but has a Gnome-based desktop. There is an option "Locate pointer" in the "Accessibility" settings. Enable it and tap the left control key, you will see circles going from the cursor location.
