@stux this is why it pisses me off that BSky has functionally done fuck all for decentralization. They’re footginning themselves by creating a single instance for moderating versus a federated and decentralized approach like Masto. Here, singal could join an instance full of cryptofash dorks like him and nobody would have to worry about it outside of maintainers blocking the instance
@valhalla_dev @stux 100% - A truly federated service provides the freedom to associate. This allows groups to protect themselves while still those that won't play along can still go exercise speech elsewhere. A centralized service forces everyone to associate with the center, meaning the center always needs to make calls about what is allowed. Centralized services can't allow for full exercise of freedom.
