Gregory's Server@polly Seems a little murky depending on what you read. This is what I found on Wikipedia - there doesn't seem to be any explicit royalties, but access to the standard's specifications through VESA requires a membership.
AFAIK that's still a much better deal for vendors than what's required with HDMI.
