@allenstenhaus @jalefkowit the torment nexus of course has an advanced algorithm to determine which mode you want and ignores the settings box. if you change the settings clearly you are mistaken, so it automatically changes back @jalefkowit "the internet was supposed to make people smarter, instead, it made stupid people louder" @Viss @jalefkowit "the internet was supposed to make people smarter; instead, rampant capitalism made it make stupid people louder"? Gen X failed so fucking hard, didn't they "An enlightened future awaits us" - ah ah ah. Ah. [cries] "Information shall be free!" - newspapers died and were replaces by state sponsores misinfo "Everyone can be anonymous online!" - troll farms and bullying "Everyone will be connected to everyone else, at all times!" - where do I start @il_fritz @jalefkowit Yes, we did. But to be fair, we always got outvoted by the Boomers and Millennials, so... @jalefkowit Somebody will always find a way to turn an invention or a good idea into something harmful. To be fair, accessibility is important. A Torment Nexus with a dark mode option is, nominally, "better" than one that lacks it. @jalefkowit but by dark mode we mean pure white text over pure black background! @jalefkowit But apart from a decently-sized library in everyone's pocket, the ability to predict the weather pretty accurately a week in advance, MRI scans, being able to make buildings and bridges and things much more efficiently without them collapsing, whole new genres of entertainment, having a high-quality video camera with you at all times, and large-scale manufacturing with far less dependence on overworked people doing repetitive work, what have computers ever done for us? One might say that The Torment Nexus was always dark mode. It just took some time for our eyes to adjust to the darkness. @jalefkowit “…which is a premium feature so subscribe for $35.99/month if you want your black background and white text so fucking bad.” @jalefkowit consecutively: “we’re phasing out light mode in favor of defaulting to dark mode, since we’ve seen torment nexus users overwhelmingly prefer dark mode” @jalefkowit lemmy (@rain_worl) guess, it doesn't respect your browser settings? |
@jalefkowit I feel you, but I'm all about that dark mode.
