I always add #AltText, but since it is a PITA and I would feel bad not using alt text I tend to post #Images to #Mastodon less.

I can't churn out image posts daily if it takes me hours to write a proper explanation for one meme post or several days to describe and explain one original image in a way I consider sufficient. In fact, it takes long enough to find motives that won't cause me to spend weeks describing and explaining the image.

@Methylcobalamin @AlinaLeonova If Alt Text is a pain, then you might be doing alt text wrong - like, for example, describing the contents of the picture in too-specific detail.

If the image is meant as decoration for people with sight, it shouldn't be a ten second pause for people without. "A beautiful landscape," "Sunset over an ocean," etc ...

Reserve the detailed alt text for instances where the image IS the content you're trying to share.
