@gosha i like it, but i think whether you like it or not mostly depends on how easy it is for you to get the information you want from either system. hledger querying is a lot like `notmuch`, and it's pretty nice to quickly combine different filters for accounts, tags, date ranges and so on, in a format that's more terse than sql. i also like having double-entry bookkeeping after i got used to it. you can do a lot with the hledger journal, but i use it mostly on the command-line for reporting. being a somewhat standard format for the purpose means that there are some tools around it (a web interface and a mobile app) that would allow you to do way more
