Yes. Bluesky has all the hallmarks of the good ol Twitter which I didn't like to begin with. Enshittification is inevitable. I don't want to invest my time there.

I believe the Bluesky wave is a fad. I’m not moving from the fediverse.

@Techaltar I'm self hosting both, and my biggest gripe with bluesky is it keeps logging me out. I also prefer mastodon, because I can auth with LDAP.

@Techaltar I think Bluesky will probably beat Mastodon, but I think an ActivityPub social media platform will have success in the end and I like how Mastodon does things for now so I'll stick here.

@Techaltar ...good point and you don't have to hate Bluesky, there is a chance that they develop some kind of centralised businessmodel that works without being as terrible as X 😀

@Techaltar That´s the reason why I decided against creating an account on BS. Here I have no reach at all. Thankfully I only want reach to make friends and show my occasional drawings, but I understand that people who need reach and engagement will go somewhere else.

@Techaltar the Bluesky UE is terrible on bigger devices than a phone.

@Techaltar I think that fundamentally, one should think of Blue Sky as what Twitter would have been if it hadn't degenerated into the hostile garbage that X became.

I know a few folks who are loving Blue Sky.

But, if we have chosen Mastodon (or the Fediverse) because we don't want to be manipulated, experimented, or tracked by a proprietary algorithm, or be subserviant to the whim of a venture capitalist, then we are exactly where we belong. :-)

@Techaltar @singe Totally. And even if some future VC were to offer Eugen a truckload of $$ (I think he's mentioned being approached by certain money-having parties and turning them down), but even if he were to take it, the larger Fediverse would live on through the variety of forks and other AP-compatible platforms out there. This is the place to be for sure 😄👍
