I see Dud people!

@dgar That's like "War and Peace" if you take out all the names.

Evelyn, who Just. Can't. Even.

@BackFromTheDud Mark Twain remarked that, if you removed every incidence of "Lo, behold, and it came to pass," from The Book Of Mormon, that book would be a pamphlet.

@BackFromTheDud @dgar or Icelandic sagas if you remove genealogy parts!

I see Dud people!

@pasqualeberesti Doesn't all mythology get a bit like that ? "I am A, son of B, grandson of C, brother of L, and cousin to K!"! @dgar

Lol

you could make a similar meme for English. The thick book would rep. English and about two sheets of paper would ep. original English words.

OR you could make a meme where one thick book would rep. rules in the English language that have exceptions and one that shows no exce.....no wait that wouldn't work because the right side of the meme would be blank.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

@dgar Now do one for any Aussie tome that doesn't include all the syllables we don't pronounce ...

... wait, do we have "tomes" in Australian literature? I think the longest Australian book I read at school was Seven Little Australians. ๐Ÿคฃ

+ Which one is the thinnest?
- 100 years of German humour! "

Every now and then I sit at the piano to see if I can play it.

Still canโ€™t play it.

Dillon

@dgar I know how you feel I'm like that on the guitar I just can't play anymore and I know it LOL

@dgar as a french reader, I validate the joke.

Poto, kruฤ‰o, nigraj (Pot, kettle, black)

Du libroj: unu granda "Angla romano"; la alia tre malgranda "Angla romano sen la literoj kiujn oni ne parolas"

Two books: one big "English novel"; the other very small "English novel without the letters one does not pronounce"

@VioB
Itโ€™s very true in The South (U.S.)! We will lob off consonants at the end of a word like a butcher trims fat. But, we also use a lot of analogies to paint the picture, which adds way more words (and imagery) than necessary just to make a point. Our book is probably gonna be mostly pictures.๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

@dgar Wait, not exactly, itโ€™s (looking at my surname) only about a 33% reduction.

@dgar
Ha ha! This so much! :-)
Reading is getting a bit easier, but writing french is hellish. I'm still doing baby steps in duolingo.

@dgar how long until "tar" gets support for "french" as compression algorithm?

Irina

@dgar Spoken French is almost an isolating language now.
