ive been on the road and sleeping in my truck for a little while now — wanted to make a post about the blackout “curtains” I made for TruckSleepMode that have been working out well so far.

1 - i made a template of the windows using newsprint.

2 - i cut a black trifold foamcore presentation board (reused my younger sister’s science fair project board hah)

3 - attached suction cups to it using beading wire.

been sturdy enough + it’s really nice that it folds up for storage during the day!

A hand holding a black marker is positioned near a large piece of paper with a drawn outline, surrounded by blue painter's tape. The background features a surface that appears to be part of a vehicle's interior.
A hand holds a black piece of foamcore with a clear suction cup attached to it. The suction cup has a spiral design. In the background is a blurred, textured light-colored surface.
The image features a hand holding a black piece of foamcore with a small gold piece of wire attached. The background is a shimmering, light-colored fabric. A ring is visible on the finger holding the surface.
An interior view of a dark, enclosed space, possibly a camper or small vehicle. A bed is visible with pillows, and a black, rectangular window is present, reflecting light. Textured fabric hangs nearby, adding to the cozy atmosphere.

@lake Ooh, that's really nice -- thank you: I've been stuck on blackout curtains for a long-ass time, but suction cups are a great idea. 😈

@lake oh good thought on the suction cups. my partner made a bunch of reflective covers for our van windows that sort of affix with magnets, but they haven't quiiiite proven to stay in place. going to have to give that a shot.
