@kityates just FYI, mastodon counts links as 23 chars, regardless of how long they are. So you don't actually gain anything by using a link shortener, except for obscuring where the link actually lead Most likely b/c "all" politicans have no idea how to find or use alternative platforms and just go with whatever inertia presents them, regardless of what it implies. Journos can certainly monitor TwitterX but if they're continuing to post there, they're being complicit with the changes on the platform and therefore helping legitimise it in the public sphere. And they're *terrified* of losing their followers (and rebuilding their network) should they go elsewhere. @niavy @kityates @guardiannews looks like they might be switching to Flipboard? See @guardian header @Magess Great! Thanks for the info! @kityates @guardiannews @guardian edit : explicitly mentioned here on first post (it seems that this is the only one left) @kityates Simply enter your information, follow the quick steps, and you could be our next $750 winner! @kityates Took them a while but glad they are doing it. Weʼre small fry in comparison but thought this was obvious over a year ago (having observed the decline for a period before that)—and we removed our Twitter gadgets from our pages in 2021, since even then it was obvious where things were heading. https://lucire.com/insider/20230905/time-to-disconnect-from-x-the-site-formerly-known-as-twitter/ |
@kityates @briankrebs Only surprised that it took this long for investigative journalists, of all people, to realize this.
