dude if i hear one more MSNBC anchor blaming the election loss on harris being too woke i’m gonna blow a fuckin gasket. this was the least progressive campaign in my lifetime. they campaigned with the Cheneys on “the border crisis” and schmoozed about owning glocks.

if they went any further right they would fall into the atlantic ocean.

what do you MEAN “meet them in the middle”. they fomented a coup and don’t think trans people should exist.

would splitting the difference be letting people just vandalize a designated portion of the capitol and leaning into Diet Transphobia Zero Sugar???

@samhenrigold

Splitting the difference, ideologically worked for the tiniest slice. It worked for Bill Clinton.

But it is a kin to slicing a baby in half. And the Democrats have been the most enthusiastic practitioners of this idea.

It always seems like they end up with a lower half just below the waist line.

@samhenrigold Turn the tv off! More than ever, they are profiting off your rage. And the media is the reason she lost.

phillmv

@samhenrigold the one fucking conclusion you can draw from this election is 10 million people saw no reason to vote for her and your conclusion is you need to be more tepid??? i fucking hate the word woke

YourShadowDani

@samhenrigold Also sick of people saying Dems would be better on Gaza, hello?

They are the government right now!

Gaza is being "turned into a parking lot" before Trump is even in, they are delusional.

@samhenrigold I'm pretty logged off on the subject of casting the bones on this election outcome. It's the work of years of analysis, not days.

@samhenrigold The only reason that the word “woke” is being perpetuated is that the news people think it’s good copy. If it presses buttons, it gets people to watch. Or something like that.

Philip Cardella

@samhenrigold First off, you're right, if was not a very progressive or woke campaign and MSNBC is garbage. Too many people think just because Maddow is there it's somehow liberal.

It's not. Not even close.

Second, she campaigned on huge tax increases for the rich and huge incentives for first time homeowners and for parents and for unions.

But yes, she campaigned with a war criminal's MAGA adjacent daughter.

But least woke? Obama was half as woke--a right of center pro biz neo liberal.

@samhenrigold Exactly "Meet them in the middle" only works when the middle isn't still way too far to the right!

I honestly think if Harris offered some tangible benefits like cutting working class taxes (while raising the billionaires' taxes) and committing to prevent companies from price gouging consumers, i think she could have won. The TLDR? She never focused on why she was better for the middle class, only why he was worse.

It has ZERO things to do with LBGTQ rights.

OldFartPhil

@samhenrigold Harris ran a centrist campaign because she was trying to build an antifascist coalition. It didn't work, but the fault lies with the voters, not with Harris.

When white people say Harris was too woke, what they're really saying is that Harris was too brown and too female.

@samhenrigold

It’s like the social media silo, defines what the consultant class in the Democratic Party thinks, defines what journalist thinks.

And they all tell each other, the shit amplify the far right has been brainwashing them with.

Powned and they don’t know it.

@samhenrigold The crazy part here, is that this is *provably* BS, even with whatever little data we have right now.

We *know* that Trump didn't add any votes relative to past elections, he lost some.

Harris, on the other hand, failed to get people to actually go out and vote altogether. These people pointedly did not go and vote for the guy *more to the right* of her…

A Lloyd Flanagan

@samhenrigold Yep, people once again voted against the status quo and an economy that looks great on paper but doesn’t work for them. Sadly I don’t think most of the things we worry about mattered.

Dean F.

@samhenrigold I've given up on MSNBC--and all mainstream media, for that matter.
