When I was a kid I was obsessed with electronics and technology.

I would take things apart just to see if I could put them back together.

Then in 2016 I joined Mastodon and two years later started @pixelfed

I was an autobody technician, and now I’m living my dream as a developer.

And it’s thanks to you, the fediverse. You pushed me to believe in myself and become a better leader, dev and person.

I am forever grateful and am dedicated to pushing the social web forward ❤️

@pixelfed @dansup I'm glad you trust me with your apps. I am also grateful for having the chance after your kindness about my out of order frustrations. Definitely looking forward to helping test and provide meaningful feedback ❤️

I suspect almost everyone in tech was encouraged by someone. One of the finer aspects of the Linux culture, that it welcomes and teaches.

For me it was a man named Frank Fenby, who taught me more than coding - he made a good teacher of me, too.

Each of us, having been helped, are obligated by honor and the necessity of our ever-changing craft, to teach others.

@dansup @pixelfed Interesting. I did the same thing as a kid, plus built a few things on my own such as a radio that just uses the airwaves for it's power and reception on to other more extensive projects and still love to work on things today from time to time.

I also worked in autobody a bit as well as a mechanic but I've been more focused on tech and construction since the late 1990's.

It's been fun, for the most part. Still experiment. Keep moving forward. Don't accept that something can't be done or that something is impossible to do. There's so much that still needs to be done.

@dansup @pixelfed Awesome! I also took things apart to understand them. Didn't always work... If only there was YouTube when I was young!

Were you successful in putting them back together? My track record wasn't so good ...
